Tasting Success! Scheme's catering gets top marks

Two Telford care schemes have proved they have the recipe for success by scooping 5 stars for their food service.

Parkwood and Bennett House Care Schemes – both managed by Accord Housing Association – were awarded 5 stars for their catering service by Telford & Wrekin Council.

The 5 Star-rating is the highest possible score a business can achieve through the Council’s Scores on the Doors scheme. Both Parkwood Extra Care Scheme and Bennett House in Woodside were judged during an unannounced inspection by the Council last week.

The inspection examined how hygienic and how well managed food preparation is at the schemes which cater for older people aged over 60.

Louise Hicks, Manager of Parkwood Extra Care Scheme, said: “We are very proud to have been awarded 5-stars for our restaurant.

“Our kitchen team works very hard and takes great pleasure in coming up with tasty and nourishing meals such as home-made soup and chilli con carne for residents and their families to enjoy.”

Lisa Johnston, Manager of Bennett House, added: “After being awarded 5-stars last year it’s great that we have been able to maintain this rating.

“We actively work with our residents to make sure that the food we serve to them is what they want to eat and what they enjoy.”

Bennett House and Parkwood Extra Care Scheme are both managed by Accord Housing Association. Accord provides Care & Support services at more than 50 sites across the Midlands.

Parkwood Extra Care Scheme works in partnership with Wrekin Housing Trust (WHT).
